The upcoming launch of Season 16 of Apex Legends, which will coincide with the game’s fourth anniversary, is presently being prepared for.
The battle royale game developed and published by Respawn Entertainment was released in 2019 and has since been regarded as one of the best games.
Apex Legends is getting a significant amount of new content, including modifications to the game’s balance, a whole new class system, new weaponry, a new game mode, and many more additions.
Players of Apex Legends have become used to introducing a new character at the start of each season. Catalyst was introduced in Season 15, Vantage in Season 14, and so on.
Developers Have Verified Apex Legends Season 16 Will Not Introduce a New Legend
For the first time in the game’s history, Respawn Entertainment has stated that Season 16 of Apex Legends would not introduce a new Legend into the battle.
Since the player base of Apex Legends has grown with the game, they have said that Season 16 will not be on adding new content but on adjusting the meta and balancing the game so that everyone can enjoy it.
“This year, we’re taking a serious look at how we can update the fundamental gaming experience to reflect better where players are now,” said Game Director Steve Ferreira. “This may be a new player joining Apex for the first time or an Apex veteran returning for another go around.”
Additionally, Design Director Evan Nikoloch said that the hold is for everyone to “learn and master” the new meta.
This will manifest as significant rebalancing changes and revisions to how Legends are categorized. He speculated that introducing a new Legend may be too much for players.
However, Nikoloch did indicate that a new legend will be introduced in Season 17. So, although the character pool will remain the same for now, Respawn’s primary emphasis this season is on changing how players perceive Apex Legends.
Conclusion
Since its beginning four years ago, the game has seen a significant expansion in terms of the number of legends it contains. When the game first came out, the roster only contained eight characters, but there are now a total of 23 Legends to pick from in the game.
It is still being determined when the most recent member of the roster will be added to the team.
With the new character class system redesign and the developer’s desire to modify the meta of the game, it makes sense to hold off on adding a new legend to the mix until after players have had a chance to react to the changes that are in store for them in Season 16.
