After one year of his death, the Takeoff fans are still seeking an answer. Takeoff’s record label confirmed a stray bullet killed him and was not the main target of the shooter. Kirshnik Khari Ball, whose stage name was Takeoff, was the youngest member of the hip-hop trio Migos, along with his uncle Quavo and his first uncle, Offset, once removed.
After the news of his death, Drake, who collaborated with Migos on the 2018 song Walk It Talk It, paid tribute to Takeoff in an Instagram post. He expressed how he has the best memories of seeing the world together. He captioned a photo together,
“Got the best memories of all of us seeing the world together and bringing light to every city we touch. That’s what I’ll focus on for now. Rest easy, spaceman.”
SZA spoke about how this incident shook her to the core. She was shocked and creeped out by the world around her.
The Houston Police Department charged Patrick Xavier Clark on December 2, 2022. He was charged with the murder of Takeoff. The police department tweeted at the time with a mugshot of the suspect,
“Patrick Xavier Clark, 33, charged with the murder of Kirshnik Khari Ball (Takeoff).”
Another man named Cameron Joshua, 22, was also charged with felony possession of a weapon with Takeoff’s death.
The Houston Police Department asked the public for any information regarding Takeoff’s death. They held a press conference on November 1, 2022. This was before they charged Xavier and Joshua. The police department requested the media channel to help them with the videos and information they received through several calls. This, they said, would help them in cracking the case.
