What Happened to Pablo Lyle? After beating a man to death during a road rage altercation in Miami in 2019, Mexican actor Pablo Lyle got a five-year prison term on Friday for involuntary manslaughter.
After getting accused of murder in connection with the death of a man he struck in a traffic accident, Lyle received his punishment almost four years later.
Two months after denying the actor’s plea for a new trial and sustaining the jury’s guilty decision, Miami-Dade Circuit Judge Marisa Tinkler Mendez gave the punishment.
A Penalty of Upto 15 Years
The Mexican telenovela star, 36, who starred in the Netflix crime thriller “Yankee,” had a possible penalty of up to 15 years in prison. Along with 500 hours of community service and an eight-year probation, the actor got a conflict management resolution.
The actor got a 30-day appeal period. Throughout the more than three-hour hearing, Lyle, who was wearing a red jail uniform, appeared composed and expressed regret. He has been in custody since his conviction on October 4.
Pablo Lyle Being Guilty
Looking at some of the Hernández family members present in the courtroom, including his son, Lyle apologised in Spanish. “I constantly and fervently pray for him and for you”.
Following a week-long trial, a jury of six people found Lyle guilty of involuntary manslaughter in the 63-year-old Juan Ricardo Hernández’s death.
Unarmed Hernández had a catastrophic brain injury. And, passed away in the hospital four days later.
Lawyers for Lyle claimed that he defended himself. Further, they claimed that the trial’s evidence was contradictory as well.
However, when delivering her sentence, the judge stated that Lyle acted “out of anger” and made a “poor decision.”
The Evidence Against Pablo Lyle
“The evidence demonstrates that Mr. Lyle’s action was an act of violence,” Tinkler said. “Mr. Lyle needs to be accountable for those deeds.”
Security cameras caught the roadside confrontation.
Lyle’s brother-in-law took the actor, his wife, and their two children to the airport. They drove past Hernández’s car, who pulled up to a stop at a stop sign and got out. And further went up to Lyle’s car to complain that they were blocking his way.
According to surveillance footage, Hernández and Lyle got into a fight. And, the actor hit Hernández in the face. Lyle insisted that he was acting in self-defense. He claimed that Hernández had a weapon and that his kids were afraid.
The Warm Words of Pablo Lyle’s Family
Prior to the court making her judgement known to the public, Lyle’s wife, brother-in-law, and sister all testified at the hearing.
On Hernández’s side, his son characterised him as a very content, caring individual with sound morals. Juan Ricardo Hernández Jr requested a maximum 15-year sentence for Lyle.
He said that he spent the day before the confrontation with his father. Moreover, when Hernández’s son visited his father in the hospital after learning of the incident, he remarked, “I didn’t want to believe it was him.”
