A Florida School voted for a resolution requesting Bridget Ziegler to step down from her role on the panel. The Sarasota County School Board can’t directly remove Bridget Ziegler from the panel. They conducted a 4-1 vote to recommend her resignation. Board Chair Karen Rose authored the resolution.
She said in an email that she was shocked and deeply saddened by the rape allegations. It involved Ziegler’s husband, Christian Ziegler. More shocking was the couple’s admissions about having a three-way sexual encounter previously with the accuser.
Rose wrote,
“I personally care about Bridget and her family and deeply regret the necessity for this course of action, but given the intense media scrutiny locally and nationally, her continued presence on the Board would cause irreparably harmful distractions to our critical mission.”
Bridget Ziegler is co-founder of the conservative Moms for Liberty group. She has served on the board since 2014. When she was appointed, the then-Governor was Rick Scott. He has previously been its chair.
The Sarasota Police Department is investigating a woman’s accusation. Christian Ziegler has allegedly raped her at her apartment in October. Police documents say the Zieglers and the woman had planned a sexual threesome that day. Bridget Ziegler was unable to make it. The accuser says Christian Ziegler arrived anyway and assaulted her, according to the documents.
Karen Rose has expressed her sorrow in her email. She spoke about how much she cares about the family. The chairperson even regrets the necessity of this course of action. She even talked about the intense media probing that continued at the local and national level. Ziegler’s presence on the board would cause severe damage.
Christian Ziegler has not been charged with any crime. He maintains his innocence. He contended the encounter was consensual.
