In her ongoing divorce with Joe Jonas, Sophie Turner has changed her legal representation. According to court documents signed on Tuesday, Gretchen Beall Schumann will now be taking over from Kelly A. Powers, Stephen John Cullen, and Matthew T. Wagman.
This marks the latest legal development for the Game of Thrones star, who recently switched legal teams in her Miami divorce case as well. She moved from Henderson, Franklin, Starnes & Holt in Fort Myers, Texas, to attorneys Dori Foster-Morales and Nicole Alvarez in Miami. Legal proceedings can be quite a journey, and it seems Turner is ensuring she has the right team by her side.
On September 5, Joe Jonas filed for divorce in Miami Dade County, Florida, citing that “the marriage between the parties is irretrievably broken.” The couple, breaking their silence, issued a joint statement on Sophie Turner’s Instagram on September 6, stating,
“After four wonderful years of marriage, we have mutually decided to amicably end our marriage. There are many speculative narratives as to why, but truly, this is a united decision, and we sincerely hope that everyone can respect our wishes for privacy and our children.”
The couple’s decision to address the situation together showcases their commitment to handling the matter with respect and privacy.
The divorce saga between Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas took a twist when Turner filed a lawsuit to have their two daughters, Willa (3 years old) and Delphine (1 year old), returned to their “forever home” in England. In the legal documents, Turner stated that Jonas filed for divorce “very suddenly” after they had an “argument” on his August 15 birthday.
She further claimed that she learned about his filing “through the media” and accused him of “refusing” to provide her with their children’s passports. This legal development adds complexity to their divorce proceedings as they navigate the custody of their daughters.
