Selena Gomez has claimed that she “lied” about body shaming for her. Those are disparaging remarks, revealing that she would be “crying” her “eyes out” in her room.
Even though most celebrities put up a brave front, they do get affected by trolls and body shaming! Selena Gomez recently confessed to a lie. She revealed that she cried her eyes out in her room when people trolled her for gaining weight.
She revealed that she pretended that the mean comments did not hurt her. Also, she thinks it’s unfair to shame someone for how they look or who they love.
The Pop Star has Hit Back at Trolls Multiple Times in the Past
Gomez, who was diagnosed with Lupus in 2014, has called out her trollers on several occasions. In January this year, she appeared at the 2023 Golden Globes wearing a strapless Valentino gown. After the event, she went live on Instagram and said, “I’m a little bit big right now because I enjoyed myself during the holidays. But we don’t care.”
Earlier in April 2022, the former Disney Channel star posted a TikTok. She states that she did not care about her weight. “So I will be trying to stay skinny, but I went to Jack in the Box, and I got four tacos, three egg rolls, onion rings and a spicy chicken sandwich. But honestly, I don’t care about my weight because people bitch about it anyway,” she said in the clip.
She doubled down on her views, saying, “‘You’re too small. You’re too big. That doesn’t fit. Meh, meh, meh, meh.’ Bitch, I am perfect the way I am.” More recently, the Only Murders in the Building actor revealed that her weight fluctuates due to her lupus medication.
She lied about not letting body shaming affect her
Just a reminder that even though she might put on a brave face on social media. But Selena Gomez still has very vulnerable, very human feelings like the rest of us.
In an emotional segment on Apple TV+’s docu-series Dear. Selena got very real about how body-shaming from internet trolls truly impacts her. And yeah, that means she also admitted that she hasn’t always been 100% honest about the subject in the past.
“I lied,” she said of some of her past social media displays of seemingly-impenetrable levels of self-love and body confidence. “I would go online and I would post a picture and I would say, ‘It doesn’t matter. I’m not accepting what you’re saying.'”
In reality, Selena said that instead of being blissfully unaffected by the hate, she would be “in the room posting that, crying my eyes out, because nobody deserves to hear those things.”
Anyone who follows Selena on Instagram or TikTok knows they know. She regularly shuts body shamers. She loves her boo of all sizes. In January, she famously responded to trolling about her appearance at the Golden Globes in an Instagram Live video with her 9-year-old sister (and date for the event), Gracie Elliott Teefey.
