Modern Warfare 2 Season 3 has kicked off with a bang, as Infinity Ward has brought forth an extensive range of fresh multiplayer content. The Season 2 addition of only a few perks changes, a beta map, and a Dome remake had been criticized by a community segment of Modern Warfare 2 for being at an “all-time low” for content, leaving them craving more.
Responding to feedback, Infinity Ward moved up the release of the Himmelatt Expo in Season 2 Reloaded. In Modern Warfare 2 Season 3, they have built on that momentum by reintroducing Gunfight and debuting four new multiplayer maps on the first day of the season.
Upcoming Features In MWII: Pelayo’s Lighthouse And NVG Mode
In Modern Warfare (2019), a multiplayer playlist featured nighttime versions of maps. Where players used night vision goggles to see. Modern Warfare 2 players pleaded with Infinity Ward on a Reddit thread to bring back this mode, and their wish was granted.
As part of Modern Warfare 2 Season 3, a new 6v6 multiplayer map called Pelayo’s Lighthouse pays tribute to the iconic MW2 map Estate, although it is a partial remake. The map features the main house from Estate, while the surrounding environment is unexplored territory.
Gunfight, a 2v2 game mode, was promised by Infinity Ward before the launch of Modern Warfare 2 Season 3 and eventually became a fan favorite due to its fast-paced nature.
In Season 3, four maps have been added for this mode. The Intervention sniper, a beloved weapon from the original MW2, has finally returned.

MWII: Gunfight Returns
The competition involves multiple rounds of cage matches with small teams. The first duo to reach the designated number of rounds won emerges as the winner.
Gunfight, a game mode in which four players compete in pairs using random Loadouts. Small cage-match-style maps to engage in tactical and fast-paced combat, is a contemporary classic that originated from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (2019). It is served as a precursor to Call of Duty: Warzone Gulag confrontations.
If you are unfamiliar with this format, here’s an explanation: In each round, two teams consisting of two players will appear on opposite sides of a map with a random set of weapons and gear. The objective of each round is for one of the teams to reduce the health of the opposing team to zero.
If the time runs out before a team’s health is reduced to zero. The team that captures the Overtime flag at the map’s center wins the round. If both teams have the same health and neither team captures the Overtime flag. The round will end in a tie, and both teams will receive a point. The match ends when one team wins six rounds in Modern Warfare 2 Season 3.
This is the place where you can locate a teammate and enter to confront an opposing pair:
