Country sensation Mickey Guyton is set to lead as the host for the National Christmas Tree Lighting, an hour-long CBS special featuring stellar performances in Washington, D.C. The event will showcase a star-studded lineup, including Renée Rapp, Darren Criss, Dionne Warwick, Joe Walsh, Samara Joy, Ledisi, and St. Vincent. Alongside Guyton, these artists will grace the stage to deliver renditions of cherished holiday classics.
The ceremonial lighting of the tree on the Ellipse at The White House and President’s Park is scheduled for Nov. 30. The corresponding special will be broadcast on CBS on Dec. 15 at 8 p.m. ET/PT and will also be available on Paramount+.
Mickey Guyton, prepared for the evening’s celebrations, recently collaborated with Michael Bolton on the new song “Christmas Isn’t Christmas.” Additionally, Darren Criss launched a holiday album in 2021, and Dionne Warwick released one in 2019.
Ledisi introduced her own holiday record in 2008, while Samara Joy, recipient of the Best New Artist award at the 2023 Grammy Awards, unveiled a holiday EP in October. On the other hand, Joe Walsh achieved holiday acclaim with the Eagles in 1978 through the hit “Please Come Home for Christmas.”
Adding to the festivities, the United States Coast Guard’s Guardians Big Band is set to perform at the ceremony, a long-standing holiday tradition since its initiation by President Coolidge in 1923. This year’s celebration is made possible through the sponsorship of the National Park Service and the National Park Foundation. Noteworthy personalities who have hosted in the past include LL Cool J, Reese Witherspoon, and Eva Longoria.
