Lottery authorities caution players in Washington State to verify their tickets as a $1 million prize remains unclaimed. The Powerball prize was purchased in the city where another player recently secured a significant jackpot.
Games like Powerball or Mega Millions involve the process of matching numbers on a purchased ticket to randomly drawn balls. In Powerball, there are five white balls and one red Powerball. Powerball drawings occur three times a week, allowing players to either choose their numbers or have the lottery machine randomly assign them.
There are nine ways to win money in Powerball:
- Matching the red Powerball or the Powerball with one white ball results in a $4 prize.
- Matching three white balls or two white balls and the Powerball awards a $7 prize.
- Matching four white balls or three white balls and the Powerball leads to a $100 prize.
- Achieving four white balls with the Powerball results in a $50,000 prize.
- Hitting all five white balls secures a $1 million prize.
- Matching all five white balls and the Powerball wins the jackpot.
The winning numbers were drawn on November 1, 2023, as reported on Washington’s Lottery website. The ticket, securing a $1 million prize, was bought in Auburn, a city situated outside Seattle. Interestingly, Auburn previously celebrated another major winner who clinched a significantly larger $754 million jackpot earlier this year, as highlighted by the Kent Reporter.
Although the winner of the $1 million prize has yet to step forward, they have until April 29, 2024, to claim their winnings. Check your Powerball ticket for the following numbers: 22, 26, 39, 47, and 63, accompanied by a red “Powerball” of 12.
Winners of lottery games nationwide are finding themselves unaware of the life-changing victories they’ve achieved. In Delaware, a more modest $50,000 winning ticket has yet to be claimed. The ticket was bought at a grocery store in a small town located south of Dover.
A recent incident involved a lotto winner whose winning ticket was accidentally torn to shreds by a cashier. This unusual situation led to a meeting by the state’s lottery officials. Upon reviewing security footage of the incident, the officials ultimately approved the payout.
