Lucknow Super Giants captain and star Indian player KL Rahul is ruled out for the rest of IPL 2023 season due to a left thigh injury. Rahul suffered a season ending thigh injury in the match against his former team Royal Challengers Bangalore in a high octane clash.
Rahul suffered the injury while trying to stop a boundary in the cover region. Where one of his foot was stuck in the ground which resulted in Rahul tearing his tendons. He was carried on his team mates shoulders. KL Rahul despite the injury came out to bat in the final over but couldn’t take his team over the line.
After the match on Friday LSG revealed on their twitter account about the seriousness of KL Rahul’s injury. One of the insiders of LSG said “Further tests and scans have unfortunately confirmed a significant tear to Rahul’s tendon which will require surgery.”
The injury rules KL Rahul for the remainder of the IPL season. He is also ruled of the World Test Championship final scheduled next month at the Oval ground against Australia.
After announcing KL Rahul’s unavailability Lucknow Super Giants shared a tweet of former Indian test player Karun Nair’s viral tweet of ” Dear Cricket, give me one more chance.” LSG announced KL Rahul’s former teammate Karun Nair as his replacement for the rest of the season.
KL Rahul Shares Update on his Injury
After careful consideration and consultation with the medical team, it’s been concluded that I’ll be undergoing a surgery on my thigh shortly. My focus will be on my rehabilitation and recovery in the coming weeks. It’s a tough call to make, but | know it’s the right one to ensure a full recovery.
As the team captain, it pains me deeply not to be able to be there during this crucial period. But, I’m confident that the boys will rise to the occasion and give their best performance as always. I’ll be cheering for them from the sidelines with all of you, watching every game. @lucknowsupergiants

Karun Nair IPL Career
Karun Nair played his last IPL match for Rajasthan Royals against Kolkata Knight Riders at the Wankhede stadium on 2nd May 2022. Nair will be playing in his 10th IPL season. In his IPL career he has scored 1496 runs in 76 matches smashing 10 fifties. He has played for four different franchises in his IPL career.
Karun Nair made his IPL debut in the 2103 IPL season playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore. Rajasthan Royals backed Nair in the 214 IPL season. He shifted to Delhi Capitals for the 2016 and 2017 seasons. Punjab Kings picked him up in the following seasons. Rajasthan Royals picked him in the 2022 IPL season. The young talented batter was unpicked in the 2023 IPL auction.
