IPL or Indian Premier League is a fascinating contest that every cricket lover knows about. Starting in 2008, it has certainly come a long way in 2022. The 15th edition of this mega fest of cricket will surely offer entertainment to cricket lovers. So, in this edition, we will see ten teams competing, or in other words, there are two more new teams that have signed up. Therefore, we can expect some tighter contests between the teams for sure. So, what’s IPL is all about you may ask. It is a tournament or franchise cricket tournament where different franchises compete against each other. Each franchise has players from all international teams, like Australia, England, South Africa, West Indies, New Zealand, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, etc.

Main Attraction of IPL

First of all, it’s a tournament where players from all over the world play on the same team. In other words, in an IPL team, you will have the chance to see players from India, Australia, South Africa, West Indies, playing together. Since 2008, one of the biggest attractions of this tournament is surely this one. 

In addition, it’s a glamorous cricket tournament as well because some of the franchise owners are famous Indian Actors or actresses. Moreover, IPL offers immense exposure to the players as they get a platform to showcase their talent. It helps them to get a selection call from the international teams on many occasions. For example, we have a lot of Indian players who made it to the International squad for putting up amazing performances at the IPL.

Auction 2022

This year’s IPL 2022 Auction held on Feb 12-13 was surely remarkable. It was a tough auction because this year we have two new teams, Gujrat Lions and Lucknow SuperGiants, along with eight other teams. Moreover, it’s worth noting that Hugh Edmeades was the auctioneer but he got ill in the middle of the auction. However, Charu Sharma was there to save the auction and did well. Some of the huge buys of the auction were Ishan Kishan ( MI), Shreyas Iyer ( KKR), Deepak Chahar ( CSK ), Liam Livingstone (PBKS), etc.
