The recent Jeremy Renner accident left him fighting for his life. He attempted to prevent a snow-removal tractor from sliding and striking his adult nephew on New Year’s Day when he was pulled beneath the vehicle and crushed, as outlined in an incident report from a Nevada sheriff’s office.
The occurrence unfolded in the vicinity of Mt. Rose Highway in Reno, Nevada, in the early hours of January 1. The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office responded to the incident at 9:00 a.m., and Renner was subsequently transported to the hospital. Reportedly, he was in “critical but stable condition.” The actor underwent surgery the next day and is reported to be “receiving excellent care” in the presence of his family.
The day following the incident, a spokesperson for the actor informed PEOPLE that he continued to be “in critical but stable condition.” Despite “extensive” injuries, his family was by his side, ensuring he received “excellent care.” On the same day, Renner underwent surgery.
In an official statement to PEOPLE, Renner’s representative conveyed that Jeremy had experienced blunt chest trauma and orthopaedic injuries, undergoing surgery on January 2nd, 2023. The statement reported that he had returned from surgery and was currently in the intensive care unit in critical but stable condition.
Renner received heartfelt support from Hollywood friends on his Instagram post from the hospital. Well-wishes poured in from Heidi Klum, Questlove, Vanessa Hudgens, Jimmy Fallon, and others. Klum wished him a “Speedy recovery,” Hudgens sent “love n healing,” Questlove wished “healing & energy,” and Fallon reassured with “Lotsa love out there for you bud.” Marvel’s Chris Hemsworth and Renner’s Tag costar Isla Fisher also sent their support.
Providing a recovery update on social media, Renner posted a video showcasing himself walking on a workout machine months after the New Year’s Day incident. The brief 15-second clip features Renner inside a high-end treadmill. Moreover, he was recently spotted at the airport.
