Henry Cavill will play the swordsman in his new movie. It is so powerful that even The Witcher’s Geralt of Rivia would think twice about fighting him. Cavill is not yet ready to leave the fantasy genre after leaving The Witcher in the third season. He is set to appear in a remake of the 1986 classic Highlander.
The movie stars Christopher Lambert as Connor MacLeod. He is a Scottish Highlander whose immortal lineage allows him to live through hundreds of years. The story focuses on the meeting of similar warriors in New York City. There can only be one victor of the Game for the ultimate Prize of knowledge and everlasting life.
Teaming up with director Chad Staheski, Cavill might have a chance to make the Highlander movies a big success. Staheski brought the John Wick franchise to life with Keanu Reeves. It is difficult to imagine which would win the fight for success — Connor MacLeod or Geralt of Rivia.
Cavill’s involvement elevates the fantasy genre with his larger-than-life heroes. Both Geralt of Rivia and Connor MacLeod can heal with incredible ease and both are incredible swordsmen. But it is necessary to look at what sets them apart. This would help determine whether The Witcher would beat Connor MacLeod in a fight.
The Witcher has the use of magic and can gain strength from it. He can use it to gain agility and power and go into a fugue-like state. This is when he feels very little pain when in the height of battle. The Witchers are ageless but not immortals like Connor MacLeod. MacLeod also has over 400 years of fighting experience. So, in a fight, Connor MacLeod might be destined to beat The Witcher in single combat.
