CBS Mornings anchor Gayle King continued her quirky Thanksgiving tradition with her niece, Mekenzye Schwab, celebrating their sixth annual “Thanksgiving swimsuit photo shoot.” The unconventional tradition, which began as a joke in 2017, sees King and Schwab posing in glamorous bathing suits.
This year’s edition took place in Cancun, Mexico, where the duo showcased a vibrant array of swimsuits. King shared the photos on Instagram, capturing moments from their beachside escapade. In one shot, they sported yellow one-piece bathing suits, standing on a secluded beach path. The carousel of images featured side-by-side poses, including shots on a boat’s staircase and under showers.
The photos radiated a sense of fun and camaraderie, with King and Schwab mirroring each other’s poses. King, 68, showcased her vibrant sense of style in a one-shoulder halter one piece, featuring stripes of white, bright red, and salmon pink. Schwab, in a multi-colored paisley bikini, joined the festivities.
The tradition took a humorous turn with close-ups of the women’s backsides, where King donned a colorful pear green one-piece, and Schwab rocked a ruched orange bikini. The final slides featured steamy shots of the duo under showers, with water cascading down their faces.
Sharing the joy on Instagram, King wrote, “Back by popular demand: Our annual Thanksgiving swimsuit photo shoot with fav niece @mknzschwb. It all started as a joke in 2017, where I was making fun of Mekenzye, and now it’s turned into a thing.”
Schwab also posted the photos on her Instagram, adding a touch of humor with the caption, “Can I at least get a consolation prize for attempting to keep up with my aunt?” The yearly tradition showcases King’s zest for life and the close bond she shares with her niece, creating a unique and memorable way to celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday.
