The latest news hints at a reunion of Dwayne Jackson and Vin Diesel for the upcoming Fast movie, and the excitement for the on-screen chemistry is reaching heights. The beginning of the end of the Fast and Furious franchise is marked by Fast X.
Let’s find out the cast members, budget, storyline and, of course, the release date of the next instalment.
The next in the line for release from the Fast and Furious franchise is Fast 11. With exciting story details and a promising cast, the wait for the fast 11 release date will not be too long. The beginning of the end of the Fast Saga with a multipart finale would wrap up the story of Dom Toretto and the fast and furious found family.
The Fast 11 movie would follow the story of Fast X as Dom Toretto and his family get closer to the endgame. Vin Diesel, who is the star and producer of this franchise, has built hype around the next Fast and Furious movie.
The Fast Storyline
None of the earlier Fast and Furious sequels had been so intrinsically linked to its preceding one as Fast 11. Most of the Fast and Furious sequels are standalone movies on their own, but there is an exception in the case of Fast 11. It is the second part of the overreaching storyline that we see in Fast X. Now, that makes it a true sequel in the Fast series.
As we know that this movie is still in the early stages of development, we do not have too many details about the cast announcement and storyline of Fast 11.
There is an evolution of the franchise’s latest villain, as the director Louis Leterrier hints. There would be a change of character of the already known bad guy, Jason Momoa’s Dante. New sides to this character would surprise the audience. The director praises Momoa for what he brings to the character.
The actor is seen moving into unexpected ways along the villain and said,” was interesting to play with the duality and the push-pull within the character,” the director says that within the same sentence, the character is laughing, and he feels the pain of losing everything. He marks that only an actor like Jason could have done that.
Is the Sequel Confirmed?
The franchise had officially confirmed the release of the sequel of Fast X. The movie is under development at Universal Studio and is a continuation of the storyline of Fast X. The franchise confirmed the sequel at the same time when the two-part finale was planned.
Two-part finales have now become a Hollywood trend. The sequel will not be the last in the series, although it was initially taken as the final chapter. Fast and Furious 12 is said to be the concluding one, but that doesn’t confirm that the studio would allow their brands to die with the last scene.
Release Date of Fast 11
When Fast 11 will come out is a big question now. As confirmed by Vin Diesel, the movie is queued to release on April 4, 2025. Diesel is said to have been too quick to make the announcement. The ongoing WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes make it difficult for any new movie to guarantee a fixed schedule.
Even Peter Cramer, the President of Universal Pictures, said that this strike has created uncertainty. He said about the possible delay, “If it lasts too long, it’ll be hard to imagine that we can get this film up on the timeline we’d like to.”
Louis Leterrier, the director, managed to reject the Fast X project under immense pressure. Later, he entered as a last-minute replacement after long-time Fast & Furious director Justin Lin decided to leave the franchise due to creative differences.
Leterrier had little time to prepare for Fast X after Lin left and pulled up the movie with great finesse. The franchise has great faith in the director and has decided to bring him back for the sequel.
The franchise confirmed that Christina Hodson and Oren Uziel are writing the screenplay for the movie. The director has even said that he is planning it bigger than Fast X. He explained, “What we’re planning on the next one is just gigantic, in terms of action, scope, and emotion.” He even promised his audience, “You will feel all the feels. Tears will roll.”
