The global Drag Race family is mourning the loss of Bandit, a contestant from Drag Race Thailand season 2, who has died at the age of 38. Bandit, known for his exceptional fashion designs, finished fourth on the show in January 2019, behind the season winner Angele Anang.
Details surrounding Bandit’s death are currently limited. Pangina Heals, cohost of Drag Race Thailand and a contestant on UK vs. the World, expressed her grief, emphasizing Bandit’s impact on the drag community. Pangina highlighted Bandit’s role as a visionary and mentor in the world of fashion.
“We’re all completely lost because Bandit has been a light. He has taught me. I would not be the same person I am today without Bandit teaching me about fashion,” said Pangina Heals. “He’s been such a visionary, such a giver. He’s always telling other people, ‘You can do this’ or, ‘Do that to be better,’ in terms of making sure other people have their fashion game on. He was such a funny person, such charisma, such magnetism, and without him, all of us don’t know what to do.”
Kana Warrior, a longtime friend and fellow Drag Race contestant, also expressed her sorrow over Bandit’s passing, emphasizing her respect for him and acknowledging the deep sense of loss.
Bandit’s death marks the fourth loss of a Drag Race contestant since the franchise began airing nearly 15 years ago. He joins the memory of Sahara Davenport from season 2 in 2012, Chi Chi DeVayne from season 8 and All Stars 3 in 2020, and Cherry Valentine from Drag Race UK in 2022.
The drag community, both in Thailand and globally, mourns the departure of a beloved artist and performer. The circumstances surrounding Bandit’s passing remain under scrutiny, with fans and fellow contestants awaiting more information.
