Destiny 2’s experience with Lightfall has undoubtedly been uneven. The penultimate addition in the Light and Dark tale has produced much content, including highs and lows. Players liked the new setting in Neomuna and the new Strand subclass, even though the Lightfall tale itself was undoubtedly controversial.
Even though Root of Nightmares is in contest mode, it boasts one of the greatest clear rates of any raid. Sadly, many players believed that the difficulty of the Root of Nightmares raids was off, leading to some controversy when the raid first launched. The raid’s execution left many high-end raiders dissatisfied, including Datto, who yearned to return to more challenging, prestigious content.
Due to the final boss Nezarec’s vulnerability, Root of Nightmares was one of the games that were so easily cleared. Ironically dubbed “The Final God of Pain,” Nezarec was viewed by many Destiny 2 players as a complete pushover. Some even made it hard to two-man him in contest mode.
Guardians could stand in a Well of Radiance without Nezarec responding to them, which was discovered to be a bug. Fortunately, Bungie was made familiar with the problem and has been working for solutions to ensure that Nezarec lives up to his name. It was determined that this issue was quite serious because it significantly lowered the challenge of the encounter and made his DPS phase much simpler.
Destiny 2 Creator Bungie will alter Nezarec’s Actions
Specifically, when confronting Guardians in a Well of Radiance, Bungie has stated in their most recent TWAB that they are talking about altering Nezarec’s behaviour. Although it is our goal to avoid making significant tuning changes to an activity after it is life, it is preferable to address the reactivity of the boss and recognise that it may disrupt present techniques and up the difficulty level.
While Bungie has not yet said when these improvements would be applied to the Root of Nightmares, they want to increase Nezarec’s difficulty soon.
It’s also probable that the Guardians’ approach to fighting Nezarec will change, as Bungie wants to move away from the “everyone stands in a Well of Radiance and DPS” tactic.
