The makers of the German series Dark conceived the series 1899. Indeed, the premise of the show dates back to 1899. The story centers around a group of European migrants journeying from London on a steamship. The name of the steamship is Kerberos. Thus, they are travelling to begin their new lives in New York City.
We see the passengers travelling with their optimism intact until they confront another migrant ship, the Prometheus. However, since the encounter, the journey to the promised land transforms into a nightmare of colossal proportions.

Emily Beecham is a British-American actress who portrays the character of Maura Franklin in 1899. The 2009 Sally Wainwright drama Unforgiven proved to be the turning point of her career. Most recently we saw Beecham in the BBC show The Pursuit of Love. The show has its roots in the 1945 novel of the same name by Nancy Mitford. She performed the character of Fanny in Emily Mortimer’s cinematic recreation of Nancy Mitford’s comic romance.
