The Boston Celtics are set to be in a face-off with the Pacers in Indiana. The team will remain without one of their best players for the match. This is because Kristaps Porzingis has been ruled out. He has missed each of the previous three games, so this will be his fourth straight out of the lineup. Kristaps Porzingis hasn’t played in nearly a fortnight due to a calf strain.
ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski said that there is optimism that he will make his return to the court sometime soon. The Latvian injured his calf in Boston’s loss to the Orlando Magic back on Nov. 24. He exited the game in the third quarter after 22 minutes of playing time. Porzingis registered nine points and four rebounds before departing. Playing without a star player is indeed quite a challenge for any team in the Sports World.
Porzingis is a player who has brought great honour to his team. He has played in 15 games so far this season. The player is averaging 18.9 points, 6.7 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.7 blocks per contest. This is while shooting 54.7% from the field and 32.4% from the three-point range.
He is in his first season with Boston and has appeared to be a great fit playing with Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum. If the Celtics beat the Pacers, they will play their next game on Thursday against the winner of the Knicks-Bucks game. Porzingis wasn’t fit enough to suit up for Boston in the In-Season Tournament quarterfinals matchup against the Indiana Pacers on Monday, December 4.
The Celtics acquired Porzingis in a three-team deal with the Memphis Grizzlies and Washington Wizards back in June. The move saw Boston part ways with fans’ favourite Marcus Smart. Now, it is to see what awaits Kristaps Porzingis.
