Synopsis
Substitute Soul Reaper Ichigo Kurosaki spends his days combating the Hollows. Hollows are dangerous evil spirits. Indeed, they have filled the Karakura Town with menace. Ichigo forges forward in his quest with his closest allies. Orihime Inoue is his boyhood friend with a talent for healing. Yasutora Sado happens to be his high school classmate with superhuman strength. Uryuu Ishida is Ichigo’s Quincy rival.
Ichigo’s vigilante routine is disturbed by the sudden appearance of Asiguiaro Ebern. Asguiaro is a dangerous Arrancar who trumpets the return of Yhwach, an ancient Quincy King. Yhwach seeks to rekindle the archetypal blood feud between Soul Reaper and Quincy. In fact, he aims to wipe out both the human world and the Soul Society for good.
Yhwach embarks on a two-pronged invasion into both the Soul Society and Hueco Mundo, the home of Hollows and Arrancar. To take revenge, Ichigo and his friends must fight alongside old allies and enemies alike to abort Yhwach’s campaign of carnage before the world itself comes to an end.
Theme
The story revolves around Ichigo Kurosaki. He is a 15-year-old who can see ghosts. When Shinigami Rukia Kuchiki confers on him her powers in a desperate life-and-death situation against a Hollow, Ichigo becomes enmeshed in the Soul Society’s affairs, an afterlife modeled after feudal Japan. Indeed, Hollows are monsters with a thirst for human souls.
However, Rukia is ultimately captured for the crime of imparting her powers to a human. Ichigo and his friends start on a journey to Soul Society in order to rescue her. In fact, they will beat up any dissenting Shinigami in their way.
However, Ichigo’s invasion was revealed to be merely a part of the plan of the charismatic Shinigami captain, Sosuke Aizen. He retires to the realm of the Hollows, Hueco Mundo, for the next steps of his plan. Indeed, his plan somehow includes the capture of Orihime. Thus, we see Ichigo once again summoned to stop the dangerous Azien once and for all.
