Amazon has shared that it is releasing new features to the Echo to make it into a home security system. As the Echo speakers are always in the listening mode they can also listen to sounds in home if the owner is not available. What are the useful features available in Echo speaker?
The user has to activate the Alexa by saying that they are leaving. Then the device will start to monitor and will send the user messages if it records anything. Another exciting feature in the Echo speaker is that the user can give commands to it by randomizing the smart lights in the house. So it will look as if someone is present inside the house.
It can control the lights by using its machine learning so the light changing will seem natural. Amazon also shared that Alexa will connect with the security system too when the owner is leaving the house. The service will integrate with Ring and the ADT for professional monitoring.
Here are the three main security features added in the Echo speaker
1. Alexa Guard
This feature uses the Echo’s microphone to listen for any sounds. If there is any doubtful sound when the user is not present in the house then the device will send the user notification. The user has to say I am leaving to Alexa to activate it and when they come back they have to say Alexa I am home.
2. Alexa Drop-in
If there is a message from Alexa to the user when he or she is out then they can immediately drop-in on the Echo. They can do it remotely by going to the Alexa app. Then they have to drop in and choose the Echo device. If they are having Amazon Echo show they can even see what is happening.
3. Away Lighting
If the user is gone for a long time and wants to appear as if they are inside the house then they can use the Away lighting feature. If they have smart light then they can go to the guard settings and tap guard. Then they have to click light. Moreover, they have to click all the available smart lights to do the job.
