Periods are the worst nightmare that we girls have to experience every month for a few days. They are even worse if they are heavy and painful. So, when you are on your periods, there are certain things which you should definitely not do if you want to end up your day on a happier note. You need to avoid things like waxing, drinking too much coffee, having unprotected intercourse and many such things that you will get to know through this blog.

1. Don’t get yourself waxed
We love to keep our body smooth and clean all the time. But when you re on your periods. You should avoid yourself getting waxed, especially on your private part. Ask me why? This is because your skin becomes extra sensitive when you are on your period, so you should avoid this.
2. Don’t eat any salty food
Even though you crave French fries, nibbling on salty snacks can actually make your period symptoms worse. Consuming salty food will contribute to the bloating in your stomach which will make you feel extra uncomfortable. It can also make your period cramps go worse.

3. Don’t indulge in unprotected intercourse
When you are on your periods, it is a bad idea to go for unprotected s**x. If you do, the transmission of things like HIV can be higher during this period. So, try to avoid doing unprotected intercourse when you are bleeding.
4. Don’t wear a pad or tampon for more than four hours
While doing our work, we often forget to change our pads or tampons which is not good. You should try to change your pad or tampon every 3 to 4 hours to avoid any unpleasant odour, bacterial build-up which can lead to infections as well as the dreaded bleeding through your pants.

5. Don’t consume too much coffee
This is that time where you need to skip your latte as too much of caffeine during your periods could worsen discomfort from cramps and bloating
6. Don’t consume any dairy product
Dairy is not you find when you are on your periods. If you try consuming dairy products at that time then you will feel more gastric. This is because of the hormonal changes in your body. So, taking any dairy product would be like adding salt to the wound. So, try to avoid that.

7. Don’t wake up the whole night
Taking enough sleep is important whether you are on your period or not. So, pulling all-nighters can increase the stress hormone cortisol. This can further lead to imbalanced hormones which can make things go even worse.
So, these are some of the surprising things that you need to avoid when you are on your periods. If you follow these things, it will make those days comfortable and happier.
