Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh shared insights into their relationship and early days of dating during the premiere episode of “Koffee with Karan 8”. They reminisced about their journey, revealing that their connection was instant and intense.
Their love story began while working together on Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film, “Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela.” Ranveer was awe-struck by Deepika, and they both felt a special connection from their very first meeting. When asked about when they officially started dating after meeting, Ranveer candidly replied, “The next day,” to which Deepika added, “There was no gap.”
Deepika disclosed that at that time, she was single, while Ranveer had just come out of a previous relationship. She explained that she had been through some difficult relationships and was initially hesitant to commit. Even when they began dating, there was no formal commitment until they got engaged.
Despite the initial lack of commitment, they found themselves drawn to each other repeatedly. Deepika admitted, “I did meet other people, but I wasn’t interested or excited by anyone else that I was seeing. In my mind, I was committed to him. So I would meet other people, but at the back of my head, it was like, I am going back to him.”
Karan inquired whether they had discussed being in a relationship during this time, to which Deepika Padukone responded with a “no.” Ranveer Singh clarified that it was “established” that they were together, particularly through their shared experiences like going on dates and celebrating New Year’s together.
Ranveer fondly recalled that within the first six months of their relationship, Deepika had attracted the attention of “two or three other suitors.” Deepika seemed surprised by this revelation and asked who these suitors were. Ranveer playfully pointed out that she had previously mentioned seeing other people. While Deepika didn’t remember these individuals, Ranveer insisted that he remembered clearly.

Ranveer concluded by expressing his certainty that he was “the one” for Deepika from the very beginning, and he was confident that she was “the one” for him within the first six months of their relationship. The couple has been happily married since 2018 and is approaching their fifth anniversary, celebrating their enduring love story.
