Let’s talk about Five Nights at Freddy’s, a super spooky movie that’s coming out soon. It’s Halloween time, and the famous movie company, Blumhouse, is getting ready to release one of their most exciting films ever. On the Friday just before Halloween, Blumhouse is going to show their movie “Five Nights at Freddy’s” in more than 3,500 cinemas. This is also the same day when you can watch it on the Peacock streaming service. Even though you can watch it at home, people are still expected to go see it in theatres, and they might spend around $11 for a ticket. If you choose to watch it on Peacock without ads, it costs $11.99, or you can get it for $5.99 with ads.
Now, here’s the big question. With all the bad reviews out there (it only got a 29 Metacritic score), will people still want to watch it, or will they decide not to go after hearing what others have to say? Bad reviews can quickly change people’s minds.
Blumhouse is famous for making scary movies that make a lot of money. Two of their films made more than $50 million when they first came out: “Halloween” in 2018 made $76.2 million, and “Paranormal Activity 3” in 2011 made $52.6 million. The best horror movie for teenagers (PG-13) is “A Quiet Place,” which made $50.2 million and was made by Paramount.
Out of all the October movie releases, “Five Nights at Freddy’s” is the fifth highest in terms of how much money it’s expected to make. The only movies that made more money in October were “Joker” ($96.2 million), “Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour” ($92.8 million), “Venom: Let There Be Carnage” ($90 million), and the first “Venom” movie ($80.3 million).
When it comes to scary movie previews, the top three are “It” ($13.5 million), “It: Chapter Two” ($10.5 million), and the 2018 “Halloween” ($7.7 million). These movies got people excited even before they were officially released.
So, the big question is: Can “Five Nights at Freddy’s” join the club of these successful movies? The movie studio thought they might make between $40 million and $50 million, but it’s hard to say for sure. We’ll have to wait and see what happens as the release date gets closer, and people start making their predictions.
