Seth MacFarlane’s Family Guy has been a mainstay of cartoon television for more than 20 years. The show’s distinct sense of humour has delighted and enthralled viewers for many years. Since Family Guy debuted on FOX in 1999, a wide range of guest stars have been on the show. With the release of Family Guy Season 22, which premiered earlier this month, the show keeps getting laughs. Family Guy Season 22 Episode 3, “A ‘Stach from the Past,” which premiered on Sunday, parodies Tom Selleck’s reverse mortgage advertisements for American Advisors Group. We’re pretty sure you’ve seen the clips in question if you watch live TV, but it’s unlikely that you’ve seen them animated.
This one features TV Fanatic’s exclusive clip of Selleck’s advertisements getting hauled over the coals with the help of voice actor Josh Robert Thompson. The commercial is shown in its entirety in this ninety-second film, featuring the fictitious Selleck establishing a connection with Peter via television. If you watch Family Guy on the internet, you are aware that Peter is among the simplest individuals to control.
To be clear, Tom is influencing Peter in the video, not controlling him.
It’s not surprising that the real Tom Selleck—whom Thompson brilliantly captures—uses his sultry voice to attempt to sway Peter Griffin. Given the infinite possibilities of this plot, we question where the Griffin family will live in the absence of a home. We don’t think Quagmire will be friendly, and since we’ve seen the family at Lois’ parents far too often in the past, I don’t think the program will go in that direction.
All we can do is watch Sunday night at 9:30 p.m. ET/PT on FOX for the premiere of the episode.
The purpose of advertisements is to pique a person’s interest in a company or product, and Peter connects with the imaginary Selleck’s delivery in some way. Tom discusses reverse mortgages in the following section after Peter airs all of his concerns and questions regarding them.
Should we believe that Peter is delusional because he has watched them so much, or that this is really a ploy to make people laugh? Probably a little bit of both, but we can be certain that Peter won’t get along if he calls the number.
In reality, it is confirmed in the episode’s official logline that he loses the family home.
“When Peter loses the Griffins’ home in a reverse mortgage, he and Mayor West travel to confront the man advertising the scheme, Tom Selleck,” Fox implies.
“Meanwhile, Stewie and Brian open a booth at the flea market, leading to a rivalry with Bruce.”
The partnership between Lois and Peter has weathered many storms together, but she’s unlikely to be impressed by his susceptibility to influence. But maybe they were meant to be together—we’ve seen Lois go to absurd measures to hide her theft and even greater ones to become the most popular patron of her neighbourhood coffee shop.
